Dan Hardway Testifies About CIA Malfeasance in the JFK Investigation

Former HSCA investigator spoke to Rep. Luna's Task Force on Declassification

“For the past 62 years the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has actively and continuously obstructed the investigation of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy with no consequences for their actions.”

With those words Dan Hardway, former investigator for the House Select Committee on Assassinations, began his testimony before the House Task Force on Declassification of Federal Secrets on May 20. Hardway’s compelling account highlighted the CIA’s resistance to full JFK disclosure, which continues to this day.

“Ten years ago, the CIA’s official historian admitted it hid information from the Warren Commission during its investigation. The CIA stonewalled the Senate Select Committee to Study Governmental Operations with Respect to Intelligence Activities (the “Church Committee”) about the assassination. The CIA was not forthcoming with the Rockefeller Commission. The CIA misled and slow-walked the Assassinations Records Review Board (ARRB). James Angleton’s preferred strategy in dealing with the Warren Commission was to “wait them out.” The first CIA officer I ever interviewed told me, ‘You represent the Congress. What the f___ is that to the CIA? You’ll be gone in two years, and the CIA will still be here.’ “
