Another Dubious JFK Theory: The Cass Sunstein Story
The Harvard professor and former White House official offers a fact-free scenario
Let me say, first of all, that I don’t doubt the sincerity of Harvard Law School professor Cass Sunstein. I assume he comes to his beliefs about the JFK story in good faith. I doubt very much he has information that contradict his public writings on the subject (if only because he seems ignorant of recent developments). I don’t think he is a party to the CIA’s ongoing cover-up of JFK records about the agency’s interest in Lee Harvey Oswald, at least not wittingly. No, he’s is not responsible for Harvard’s complicity in the slave trade. He’s an admirer of President Obama. So am I. Etc Etc.
I’m well aware that in today’s social media-powered intellectual debates any show of respect, not contempt, for those who disagree risks the algorithmic suicide that condemns the careful critic to online irrelevance.
The problem with Harvard’s Robert Walmsley University Professor is not bad faith. It’s ignorance combined with a curiously theoretical approach to the subject at hand. I’m tempted to say Sunstein doesn’t know jack shi*t about JFK but that would make me sound like Elon Musk, a fate no prudent journalist should tempt.
