Beleaguered South American president again blames CIA for Kennedy’s death
President Nicolás Maduro of Venezuela took to social media on Tuesday to blame the CIA for the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy. He made the remarks in the context of violent protests in Venezuela against his controversial victory in presidential elections on July 28, which Washington says were marred by widespread fraud.
The socialist head of state’s X (formerly Twitter) account posted a video of a joint meeting of the Council of State and Defense Council. Early in his speech, he talked about how JFK was trying to normalize relations with Communist Cuba at the time of his murder:
