Despite opposition from his brother, the president keeps open the option of secret talks
On this day in 1963, President Kennedy met with his advisers to discuss ‘peace feelers’ from Fidel Castro. Over the opposition of his own brother JFK kept alive the option of pursuing secret talks with the Cuban government.
MacGeorge Bundy, the president’s national security adviser, raised the issue.
