AWL, the systemic obfuscation has been going on since at least 1945, perhaps all the way back to Mrs. Woodrow Wilson, because we know Woodrow was toast at the end of his term. I have little confidence that “We” can succeed at the ballot box.
It's not so much a matter of honesty, although I'm sure it's in short supply, but more a matter of growing up brainwashed and needing to adhere to the party (conservative) line. Neither Odio nor Veciana implicated other anti-Castro Cubans. The lack of identifying others could be the result of not wanting people they knew to be identified or it could be they were unfamiliar with the names of others we would like to know about. I believe both knew more than they let out.

At least one researcher reports that all of the Joint Chiefs had to sign off on JFK's assassination. Even if speculation, it's very plausible IMO. What a bunch of traitors.
Supposedly (?) the CIA was suspicious that someone was leaking the “Daily Briefing” to the USSR. JFK was identified as the “leaker.” Thus, the CIA believed he was a traitor, hence warranted removal. Contemporary reports indicate that JFK was attempting to achieve peaceful relations with the USSR through a back channel, IIRC.
That's my understanding. Of course, it wasn't the CIA's place to decide how foreign policy was to be conducted, and it certainly wasn't their place to assassinate the president because they disagreed with how he conducted foreign policy.
Whether one describes it as “a government within a government,” or “a shadow government,” the reality is our entire 1787 Constitution has been superceded by “whatever this unelected cabal is!” Isn’t that unconstitutional?
