I was a sophomore at a small Catholic high school in the Boston area. I was sweeping the floor of my home room at about 2:30pm ( est ) when the intercom came on with radio news of the assassination. Shock and disbelief overwhelmed me and the few other students with me. We were dismissed immediately still thinking that the President would somehow survive. As I left the building a teacher told me that the radio news had just announced the death of JFK. As I walked home church bells in the city rang out and all vehicle traffic disappeared.
I did see the murder of Oswald live on television. I had just returned from Sunday mass and was watching tv coverage of the preparation for the movement of JFK to the Capitol.
