Why is there is so little outrage over the Liberty incident?

Project Mockingbird. Jfk’s murder would have been impossible to cover up without Life Magazine, Henry Luce ((Allen Dulles’ ally) Walter Cronkite and Dangerous Dan Rather on the “inside” giving us only the information that the Government wanted us to have.

ONI was the first government intelligence agency to destroy the Kennedy murder files. Secret Service followed suit.

And who is the reporter that “breaks” the Watergate case? Bob Woodward, who

Is Naval Intelligence.

Congress passes the JFK act unanimously, but critical details are withheld. CIA is stuck holding the bag

To maintain the coverup. This was a national security killing that Johnson, Hoover, the Pentagon Generals, Henry Cabot Lodge, Nixon (of course it was his idea to murder Castro) George Bush, Allen Dulles, Charles Cabell, James Angleton and Henry Luce to name a dozen or so people that had foreknowledge.

Harvard educated Daniel Sheehan has a youtube video explaining the murder.

If Jim Garrison didn’t have the balls to actually put the DOJ to work, we may have never gotten to see the Z film that documented the crossfire that brought a President’s skull to explode backwards.

Mick Jagger and Keith Richards wrote the best song about the JFK assassination and they to this day are blissfully unaware of the symbolism

Jumping Jack Flash

i was born in a crossfire hurricane….

But it’s all right now

In fact it’s a gas…..

Kind of sums up the American Public’s muted non response to the coup.

While he's still alive, someone should pin Dan Rather against a wall and ask him why he lied about what he saw in the Z film. For those who don't know, Rather was one of the few people who got to see the Zapruder film at the time, and he claimed he saw JFK's head thrown forward by the kill shot. The public accepted that until it was seen by the public years later.

I think of the Liberty incident like having 200 witnesses on and around the grassy knoll. The evidence is overwhelming.

Of course, another reason it gets no mention, much less investigation, is the financial stranglehold the Israel lobby has on our politicians, both Dems and Republicans.

Almost every member of Congress has an "AIPAC babysitter:"

Imagine if they all had Russian or Chinese babysitters. Would we stand for it?

In the late 1970s, I believe it was Washington Monthly that had an article about the 200 designated survivors who were supposed to be whisked away to a safe location in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia (Mountain Weather bunker) as part of the continuity plan for the U.S. government in the event of a nuclear war. Dan Rather was on the list as the media person to provide information to citizens who survived the attack.

Wow. In other words, Dan Rather is the national security state's purveyor of official information.

That explains a lot

Absolutely! Can't believe no one has cornered Rather yet! Well said on all counts including AIPAC!

The US government is under the influence and control of a foreign power, and almost no one gives a shit. And buying politicians is legal. Amazing!

Expand full comment

Always has been.

Why do the American people tolerate the influence of a foreign power over our government? Because we can't do anything about it?

[Edited for clarification.]

As the influence of the government increases, it becomes more difficult to return to more efficient circumstances. People do not know what they like, they like what they know. Enticed by the promise of free lunches, those accepting free lunches refuse to recognize that we do pay for free lunches. The absolute best health care is free--just walk three miles each day. The species evolved to best live in a certain manner but the promise that a pill can relieve us of the responsibility to take care of ourselves is more attractive than the work necessary for a healthy life. Government promises pills.

One of the most abhorrent false flag operations went awry: the USS Liberty incident where, apparently, LBJ and senior Navy officers conspired with Israel to sink the almost defenseless intelligence ship, the USS Liberty in order to give the US an excuse to enter the Six Day war. Had the ship sunk with no survivors as planned, the attack would have been blamed on Egypt. Unfortunately for LBJ and the plotters, due to the bravery and ingenuity of the crew, the ship didn't sink even after being torpedoed, repeatedly strafed (including the life rafts), and napalmed, and even though LBJ recalled the US Navy jets which had been dispatched in response to the Liberty's distress call.

"I want that Goddamn ship going to the bottom. No help. Recall the wings." That is the precise order that Johnson gave Rear Admiral Lawrence Geis, the commander of the battle group of which the America was a part, the second time American planes were recalled, this time after the torpedo had struck. Geis gave that information years later to Lieutenant Commander David Lewis, who had been the head of the NSA group on the Liberty. Geis had asked Lewis to keep it secret until after he was dead, which Lewis did.

There are several videos by survivors on YouTube which prove that the attack was not a mistake due to the "fog of war."

While I find the video's presentation to be a bit on the grade school side, it nonetheless helps to get the story of Operation Northwoods across to those who weren't aware of its existence.

Most important sentence: “In my opinion Northwoods should be understood as a template for the events of November 22, 1963.” I agree. It appears to have mutated into Northwoods II or Big Event AKA the JFK assassination. The conspirators wanted to get a “two for” — the Cuban invasion they longed for AND a coup d’etat.

Maybe the Butler shootout was a "two for". Get rid of assault weapons and prophylactically stage a coup.

A three-fer. They were going to blame Iran too.

It's not too late.

Right. There's a rumor Trump will be taken out by the national security state before the inauguration, and US forces will attack Iran in retaliation.

On a serious note, there is that rumor regarding John F. Kennedy. Without doubt, the national security state has not assisted in answering the myriad of questions regarding his death and that of Oswald. Some of the questions posed seem relevant but, in reality, may not be. The majority of unanswered questions can provide a needed panorama of how big government functions when investigating itself.

I am at an age where it seems all the creative politicians simply apply maneuvers used previously. Could the battleship the Maine be the first application of the Northwoods Operation? How about FDR's manipulations before Pearl Harbor? Could this be described as Operation Northwoods? We had the Gulf Of Tonkin following JFK. Someone in some country undoubtedly provided a model for the Maine situation.

Expand full comment

I always thought the Maine was fabricated….

But I read somewhere that the conspiracy angle has been debunked.

There was in fact a boiler explosion in the engine room.

Of course, you have e to question everything you read with a grain of salt.

But as a Navy Veteran, the boiler explosion story is totally feasible.

Expand full comment

Unscrupulous newspaper publishers blamed the explosion on the Spanish.

It was much later determined to almost certainly have been the result of a coal gas explosion. IIRC, that was Adm. Rickover's conclusion.

Expand full comment

I've read that, too. My favorite folk song is The Battleship The Maine by The New Lost City Ramblers. The boiler possibility will be settled right after Jack Ruby's motive is definitively decided.

If I recall, the Northwoods documents specifically refer to creating another "remember the Maine" situation.

I assume you recall correctly. I do not remember reading such an analogy and if I did read it I'm not smart enough to remember things very long. I almost tried to tie in Lincoln but concluded it might have been revenge on Booth's part and a coup on the part of others who wanted Lincoln out.

What was the first false flag operation?

Did Hitler invent it?

The earliest one that comes to mind is the phony attack on German border guards by German troops disguised as the Polish military.

Ah. You make me feel foolish. I've written a reply full of abstractions but abstractions are, after all, abstract. So I deleted what was a discourse in malarky and I recognize I mostly identify with the posts you have made over time.

How many false flag attacks have been either planned, proposed, or carried out by the US government? Someone should make a list.
