It seems with every passing year, decade even, that the « national security » argument bandied by the intelligence community should lose more and more traction till it reaches a deafening crescendo of absurdity and patent self-interest. So let’s just, for argument´s sake, posit the CIA had a hand in the assassination. What would the reputational – and other, attendant – harms be to the USA in that becoming worldwide, public knowledge? That’s how the “national interest” could be viewed, no?
Great article. Thank you for posting this very important information. The CIA will fight to the end I am afraid. Let’s hope that full transparency wins out
I have a question Mr. B, I seem to feel Trump may be a little slow to grasp certain concepts. This in spite of the fact that he seems to hold himself in a very high station compared to the rest of "we the people".
Baiting the Intelligence community can be very dangerous to a sitting president. JFK threatened the CIA's existence and the agency at the very least stood by idly while he got murdered.
I have to wonder about his idea of self=preservation. Repeating something I've already written his seeming lack of intimidation at the hands of the intelligence community seems to be very odd behavior for "himself". In the words of "Alfred E. Newman", what me. worry?
Could it be that Trump, the master of the 'art of the deal' volunteered to be the first official dictator for CIA?
Funny you mention that chilling thought. The CIA, as recall, works for the President, not the other way round. If the President, any President feels threatened or at risk of bodily harm, by the government we truly have lost our republic.
To your question, I doubt it. The CIA doesn’t have anything to offer other than threats. He gets more out of challenging them in public than becoming them. I believe, if he really wants to be a disrupter, forcing the release of the files will be powerful move. At the same time, lots of Washington, outside of the CIA, down to petty agencies and the hangers-on like the media and lobbyists, will get their gravy train disrupted. A fearful prospect. He’s playing a bigger game, in my belief.

Trump needs to tell the intelligence cabal how the cows eat the cabbage.

See Chuck Schumer on the subject.
